Who We Are

Meet Brooke Rustman, Owner & Therapist

We’re grateful that you’re here and taking the time to learn more about Little Wildflower Play Therapy. Brooke Rustman is a Licensed Professional Counselor–Mental Health in South Dakota and holds a Registered Play Therapist certification. Her work is rooted in creating a safe, nurturing environment where children and families feel supported, understood, and empowered.

Brooke primarily works with children ages 3 to 12, offering non‑directive play therapy. In the playroom, children are invited to use toys and materials in the ways that feel right to them—giving them space to express their thoughts, needs, feelings, and the unique ways they make sense of their world.

In addition to child sessions, Brooke provides individualized parent sessions. These one‑on‑one meetings offer a collaborative space to explore concerns, strengthen understanding, and find approaches that align with your parenting style. Every child and every family is different, and Brooke tailors each session to meet those specific needs.

Her specialized training includes EMDR, Digital Play Therapy, and extensive experience supporting foster children, adopted children, and children navigating the adoption process.

Where We Play

Step Inside the Little Wildflower Playroom

Our playroom is the heart of Little Wildflower Play Therapy—a place designed with intention, safety, and imagination in mind. This short video tour invites you to step inside, explore the materials we use, and get a feel for the environment where your child can express, create, and grow.

As you walk through the space, you’ll see how each area supports different kinds of play—from storytelling and art to sensory exploration and skill-building. We want you to feel the warmth, calm, and openness that children experience the moment they walk through the door.

Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, or simply curious about what play therapy looks like in practice, we welcome you to press play and take a look around.

Come see where little wildflowers bloom.

What We Do

What is Play Therapy Like?

Play therapy is a gentle way for kids to explore their thoughts and feelings in a place that feels safe and comfortable. It doesn’t require you to sit and talk the whole time — instead, you can use toys, games, art, and imagination to share what’s going on inside.

Sometimes big feelings — like worry, sadness, or anger — can be hard to put into words. That’s okay! Play helps children show what they’re feeling in a way that makes sense for them.

When we play together, my job is to:

  • Help you feel safe
  • Listen and pay attention to your feelings
  • Help make sense of tough things in a way that feels okay for you

There’s no right or wrong way to play here. This is a place where you can be yourself, take your time, and know that you’re supported every step of the way.

Where to Go

Taking the Next Step

If you’re wondering whether play therapy might be a good fit for your child, you’re not alone. Many families begin with questions, uncertainty, or simply a hope that things can feel a little easier.

You don’t have to have everything figured out to reach out. Sometimes the first step is just a conversation.

We’re here to listen, answer your questions, and help you decide what support might be most helpful for your family. Whether you’re ready to schedule an appointment or just want to learn more, we’d love to connect.

When you’re ready, we’re here.
